A big ‘thank you’ for all those signed up to do a slot at Waitrose over the next two weekends. Our Storehouse Foodbank volunteers’ training takes place 8pm, Monday 19 November at 8pm at The Bridge Project, 20 Gainsborough Street, Sudbury, Suffolk CO10 2EU. Thanks to Annesta and her team for making this venue available to us.

It is important evening to attend as we need to be aware of what we are saying and doing, so we hope you will be able to make it. If for any reason this is not possible, please let the the Storehouse Team know.

Here’s how:

Firstly, we need to man Waitrose. We have just a few spaces left to fill for the continuous team rota for Waitrose on Sat 24 & Sun 25 November and Sat 1 & Sun 2 December. (We need 48 people in total.)

We will require your wonderful services for two hours. Each session will have three people on it. We will be giving out special Christmas shopping lists to Waitrose customers as they go in and collecting any donated items from them on their departure.

Secondly, we need your helping hands with the packing and delivery of the hampers themselves. We have kindly been donated office space by local business Wiles: Unit 6, Ballingdon Hill Industrial Estate, Sudbury, CO10 2DX.

Packing will happen in two phases:
Monday and Tuesday 26 & 27 November from 10am-2pm
Monday and Tuesday 3 & 4 December from 10am-2pm

Please let us know by phone (01787 377 670) or email which day(s) suit you best. You can, of course, just turn up, but it is helpful in our planning to know how many people to expect! (Waitrose have kindly donated hamper packing boxes.)

Thank you once again. I hope you will find this foodbank experience as fun and rewarding as us. Together we are making someone’s Christmas Day truly better than they could possibly start to imagine.

If you are not a part of the regular family of Stour Valley Vineyard Church, please don’t let that stop you from joining in. Just like our church, it is open to all.  We would love to have you serving alongside us. Everyone has something to offer.

God bless,

The Storehouse Team

We have a Baptism Service on Sunday 4 November at 4pm, taking place at the home of Suffolk Road Church, Sudbury. If you would like to be baptised or would to discuss the possibility, speak to Andrew or Emma or drop a line to the the church office.

We have a Baptism Preparation Evening on Monday 22 October at 7.30pm.

These are always significant and joyous occasions, so we hope as many of us possible can come on this Sunday afternoon as “welcomers” into God’s family.

Please pray for the planning of the Waitrose & SVV Storehouse partnership foodbank opportunity and the various meetings beginning to happen with different parties. An article on the BBC website today says how the demand for emergency food bags is increasing sharply. Pray that we might do our part and be given wisdom how to bless those in greatest need in the name of Jesus.

Pray for those struggling with serious illness. For Alastair Watson, that he makes a full recovery from treatment. May all those in need of healing receive it.

Pray for ASD as he prepares to speak at a New Wine Leaders Network meeting in London on Wednesday. He has been hit by a virus, so pray for strength for the day.

We give thanks for the great celebration with our fellow churches on Sunday night at Sudbury Baptist Church. We thank God for the gifting and ability of of our young people as they led the worship. Their first time!

We give thanks for the unexpected cheques that have been arriving to help support our ongoing Storehouse ministry in the community. So humbling.

We look forward to the weekend and ask that the Lord would be present in power by His Holy Spirit.

Our SVV Youth worship band will be leading the worship time next Sunday evening at a service led by Eden’s Project for Churches Together. Service starts at 6.30 pm. Not sure if they start or end with coffee, but I am sure you will be a blessing to our youth if you could turn up. Besides that, it is also a great opportunity to hang out with other local Christians from around the town and get to know them.

Meanwhile, we will meet at usual at the Delphi Centre, Sudbury ,10.30 am. We’ll also have some feedback from Ignition, our joint youth activities day with Eden’s Project. A day not without people getting wet we hear!

Being the first Sunday of the month, there is sadly no Sunday service this weekend. Sorry for any disappointment. However, we look forward to seeing you at our next Service on Sunday 14 October, 10.30am at the Delphi Centre.

Meanwhile, if you are new and looking for a family church, do drop us a line or give the office a ring on 01787 377 670. We’d love to get to hear from you.

We also have a Newcomers’ Evening on Wednesday 10 October where our pastors Andrew and Emma Stewart-Darling talk about the vision for the church and some of the Vineyard values over a glass of wine and some puddings.

It is a golden opportunity to find out if we are the church for you. You’d be most welcome.

A big shout out to all those who have in the last few days who have been a significant part of the exciting developments of Storehouse, our compassion ministry at Stour Valley Vineyard. We have been quite overwhelmed!

Thanks to the children at All Saints Middle School for the cans of food from their Harvest Festival service. Never underestimate the power or a child’s giving.

Thanks to St Andrew’s C of E, Great Cornard for their amazing contribution to Storehouse last Sunday from their Service. We love you! So unexpected. so welcomed.

Thanks to Waitrose, Sudbury for asking us to partner with them for a a new in-store Foodbank for Storehouse in the run up to Christmas. (The Storehouse Christmas Hampers are going to be simply amazing this year!)

Thanks to Transition Network for offering such generosity to us on the back of Waitrose’s invitation. We think you do an incredible thing! We have made a new friend for sure.

Finally, a huge thanks to SVV for continually “remembering the poor” all year round. Last Sunday just goes to show what large compassionate hearts you guys have. So proud to know you all!

The amount of lives we touch only happens because our own lives have been touched.

“All they asked was that we should continue to remember the poor, the very thing I had been eager to do.” – Galatians 2:10
