“Then Peter said to them, repent, and be baptised every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit” – Acts 2:38

We have a special service on Sunday 4 November and we really hope you and your family and friends will be able to come!

We are baptising people who’ve chosen to live a life for Jesus and want the opportunity to declare their faith publicly.

Just for this week, we will be meeting at Sudbury Baptist Church at 4pm. Arrive from 3.30pm for drinks and cakes.

Whether you are new, just looking at church and faith, you are very welcome to join us. It is going to be a fun and joyful occasion.

We look forward to celebrating this special day together. See you there!

Please note: this afternoon service replaces our normal Sunday morning service at the Delphi Centre. (We will be back at the Delphi Centre, 10.30am on Sunday 11th November.)

Are you wondering what your children and young people could do to have fun on Halloween without getting into the dark side?

Not everyone is into trick or treating, or likes the idea of it, which is why Vineyard is throwing a Light Party!

It’s a great alternative to Halloween for children and young adults to have fun in a safe space. We’ll be celebrating the light of the world with plenty of games, craft activities and music. There’ll be hot dogs, drinks and sweets thrown in for good measure too!

Light Party is at the Vineyard Centre, Tudor Road, Sudbury, CO10 1NP.

There are different starting times for different ages, to ensure that all age groups can really make the most of the evening. But you need to book today as space is limited.

The times for different ages

Ages 5 – 11 / 5.00pm – 6.30pm / A super-cool party with games, crafts, music, food and drink

Ages 12 – 18 / 7.00pm – 8.30pm / A social time for young people with food and drink and live music.

There’ll be coffee and cake for parents to enjoy while the children and young people have fun.

We hope to see you and your families there. Meanwhile, our Planet Vineyard team are working hard getting ready to make this a lighter time of the year for you.

The event is FREE, but places are limited. (Donations welcome, but not necessary).

We look forward to seeing you!

Many people who decide to become followers of Christ find it surprising that their lives don’t automatically become Christ-like. They are still self-centred and short-tempered, they still hoard their things and have relationships riddled with dysfunction.

After we make a decision to give our lives to God, we all must begin the lifelong road of spiritual transformation in which God changes us to become more and more like the person of Jesus.

This series will help you discover the tools that you need to grow spiritually and become more like Christ in your life.

Fill a bag with hope!

“Remember the poor.” – Galatians 2 v 10

Here at Stour Valley Vineyard our biggest compassion ministry is that of our foodbank Storehouse.

In the last 11 years, we have watched Storehouse grow from being run out of our Pastors cellar, into it now having its own section of the new Vineyard Centre. On Sunday 14th October we plan to spend some time remembering some of the amazing things God has done within our community through Storehouse, and discuss how there are even more amazing things to come! We are watching connections within our area forming in front of our very eyes. This August we fed 60% more people than we did the previous August.

We will see you there!

We have got a good number of angels made… just awesome! We have a target of 200 angels, we are just over half way there at the moment.

We plan to have 2 more workshops before the big angel giveaway in Advent:

Friday 19th October, 7:30pm at our pastor’s home
Friday 16th November, 7:30pm at the Vineyard Centre

In the meantime why not have a go at knitting, crocheting, sewing or glueing some felt angels? You could even make it a fun group activity and gather together with some friends and family to craft some angels. Here a couple of patterns to get you started.

Each Sunday at church there will be a donation station where you can drop off-white wool, needles, or other useful crafting material to make angels. Alternatively, if you want to have a go but have no materials feel free to help yourself from the box. To quote a well know grocery store “every little helps” so whether you make 1 or 20, they will deliver that really important message of hope to someone this Christmas!

If you don’t feel able to make angels, you can still get involved, we will need people to help with making labels and attaching them to angels. We also need people to distribute the angels at key locations around Sudbury during Advent. This will be the main focus of the November workshop.

If you would like to join the WhatsApp group to share updates, patterns etc please let Karen, Beleta or Kerri know.

Happy angel making,

A bigger house, nicer car, better holidays: wanting more isn’t always bad, but are we looking for satisfaction in all the wrong places?

‘Being rich’ is about how God wants us to respond to his blessings. This four-week series puts a fresh perspective on what being ‘rich’ really means and how we can honour God with the richness of our finances, time, and hearts.

For early Christians, generosity was the hallmark of the church. For 4 weeks, starting on Sunday 16th September we explore 1 Timothy 6:18, to redefine what wealth is, how to use it, and helps us a church practice being rich. Most of us are richer than we think. We just aren’t very good at it. We’ll discover that it’s not what you have that matters; it’s what you do with what you have that will count for you or against you in the kingdom of heaven.
